Security System Specialist II- Electronic Security Systems 

Clearance: Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)

Location: Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

JOB OVERVIEW

The Security System Specialist II-ESS with a Top Secret Security Clearance | SSBI within the past five (5) years | SCI access eligibility will provide design solutions for governmental approval through the installation, maintenance, and administration of the Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), biometrics, access control systems (ACS), and closed circuit television (CCTV), in accordance with DoD and DNI policies and industry standards. The Security System Specialist II will preferably possess a Lenel Certified Associate (LCA) Certification and must possess working knowledge and experience with Wonderware Software (i.e. rebooting the system, restarting services, etc.).  The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, and repairing the security alarm wiring and equipment and ensures work is completed in accordance with relevant  SOUTHCOM JTF-GTMO guidelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Provide design solutions for governmental approval through the installation, maintenance, and administration of the ESS to include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), biometrics, access control systems (ACS), and closed circuit television (CCTV), IAW DoD and DNI policies and industry standards.

  • Provide recommendations for assessments, design, installation, and maintenance of Government procured equipment.

  • Conduct the installation of ESS devices compatible with the current ESS infrastructure to include the installation of hardware, software, and the planning of any future infrastructure or devices in accordance with ESS installation federal and local policies.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace inoperable ESS devices.

  • Responsible for semi-annual testing of ESS devices to include testing of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Balance Magnetic Switches (BMS), and Motion Detectors.

  • Conduct quarterly inventory to ensure accountability and availability.

  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, and other areas as required.

  • Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or broken insulation.

  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, then position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping.

  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures have been met.

  • Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.

  • Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and video cameras, and attach electrical and telephone wiring in order to connect components.

  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.

  • Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.

JOB REQUIREMENT
  • Must possess a current Top Secret (TS) clearance based upon a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the past five (5) years, and shall also be determined eligible for access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) by the Central Adjudication Facility (CAF) or other designated adjudication authority prior to arrival onsite.

  • Must have a High School Diploma; (Associate’s Degree preferably).

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of specialized experience in Electronic Security Systems (ESS).

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Must preferably have a minimum of a Lenel Certified Associate (LCA) certification.

  • Must preferably have an IAT Level II Certification (to include: Security+, Computing Environment (CE) and SQL Database certification).

  • Must have knowledge of Wonderware Software (i.e. rebooting the system, restarting services, etc.).

  • Must have experience in all areas required for the design, maintenance, installation, and support of automated IDS, biometrics, access control systems, surveillance cameras, IDS fence-line, and a particular emphasis on CCTV.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written communications.

  • Must be detailed oriented and thorough in completing work tasks,

  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusion.

  • Must possess working knowledge of governing directives, instructions, regulations, and procedures governing the DoD Physical and Information Security Programs, the DoD and DNI Programs for protection SCI and SCIFs.

  • Must possess general understanding of the other DoD Security Programs (i.e., Industrial, and Personnel Security Programs) and how the ESS relates.

  • Must have knowledge of governing laws, regulations precedents, and directives governing DoD security program.

  • Must have knowledge of DoD physical security program concepts and principles.

  • Must be proficient in the use of COTS and GOTS to support security systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The physical demands described her are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • This position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The employee may be exposed to weather conditions over 100 degrees and various climates and inclement conditions.

  • Wearing safety clothing and equipment may at times be required.
